Just Moved In

Four weeks ago, Ken and I packed up all of our belongings into a 24ft truck and headed to the hills of Arkansas. We found a nice house to rent in Harrison where we each have an office. We log into work at 8 am each morning, coming out to the kitchen for lunch and shutting down our computers just before supper.

Next week, the footings will be dug for our new house in Berryville. We expect the house to be completed in about 5 months. The land is right next to my daughter and her husband's property.

We have some wonderfully wooded acreage in the hill country. Ken has named it Monkey Holler, since there is a hollow at the bottom of the hill. The correct name is Lucky Hollow, where the rain water from our hillside and the surrounding hills flow into. Our land sits next to Arkansas state land and Pygmy Land, named after the endangered Pygmy Owls in the area. I even spotted a bald eagle last week.

Not only is the wildlife interesting, but you can find some very interesting local folk here. And brown overalls seem to be the standard uniform. The most refreshing aspect of the culture here is the friendliness and kindness of most everyone we meet. And the local Walmart is the place to be seen.
